About the Role
As a Fleet and Maintenance Technician at High Plains Mental Health Center, you'll play an essential behind-the-scenes role that helps staff provide life-changing mental health services throughout northwest Kansas. From maintaining facilities and fleet vehicles to assisting with improvement projects and special events, no two days are the same.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including painting, drywall patching, fixture replacement, furniture assembly, and minor repairs
- Assist with remodeling, renovation, and facility improvement projects
- Support preventative maintenance efforts across Center facilities and equipment
- Conduct facility inspections and identify maintenance, safety, or security concerns
- Assist with groundskeeping, custodial duties, and facility upkeep as needed
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials between Center locations (Center vehicle provided)
- Help with office relocations, workspace setups, and facility reconfigurations
- Support fleet operations through vehicle inspections, cleaning, transportation, maintenance scheduling, and recordkeeping
- Receive and organize deliveries and supplies
- Assist with event, meeting, and training room setup and teardown
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner
- Work collaboratively with contractors, vendors, and Center staff to support daily operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in maintenance, construction, facilities, automotive, or custodial work preferred
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to perform physical labor and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Basic computer and technology skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license with no substance-related incidents in the past 5 years; must be reasonably insurable
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team
Pay
- $20 per hour
- $500 sign-on bonus
Schedule
- Full-time, in-person
- Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
