Flagger - Patagonia AZ

Monitor, direct, and reroute traffic on and around construction sites as needed. Assist skilled craft workers in performing their duties and work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must be able to take direction from higher-skilled workers or foremen.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
• Produce high-quality work safely and productively at all times.
• Provide feedback to ensure materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in tasks, means, and methods; be willing to learn from others.
• Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
• Demonstrate effective math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
• Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
• Consult a supervisor if unsure about any aspect of the work or safety practices before continuing.

Requirements

• One year of experience (Level I), two years’ experience (Level II), or three-plus years’ experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry (preferred).
• NCCER Core Curriculum and/or a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical labor in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Use hands frequently to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
• Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Reach above shoulder height and below the waist frequently.
• Stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
• Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest).
• Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Use telephone, computer systems, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis for communication.

This is a safety-sensitive role involving tasks that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others, such as operating equipment, handling hazardous materials, or working with power tools.
