About the role
The Fixed Wing Pilot is responsible for the safe and effective operation of aircraft in compliance with federal regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and organizational policies. The role involves preflight planning, aircraft maintenance checks, and ensuring a secure environment for crew and patients. As a leader, the pilot may serve as a Lead Pilot, Instructor, or Safety Representative, overseeing operations, mentoring peers, and ensuring safety standards are upheld.
Responsibilities
- Operate aircraft safely and effectively in compliance with federal regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Perform preflight planning and aircraft maintenance checks.
- Ensure a secure environment for crew and patients.
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Evaluate transport criteria and make informed decisions.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety initiatives.
- Interpret weather conditions and manage crew resources effectively.
Requirements
- Specific flight hours, certifications, and experience in multi-engine or turbo-jet aircraft.
- Preferred EMS (Emergency Medical Services) background.
- Preferred aircraft-specific Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours.
Qualifications
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in weather interpretation and crew resource management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and maneuver in confined spaces.
- Capability to operate aviation equipment.
Location
This role is based at Cortez Air Base in Colorado.
