Responsibilities

  • Drives one of several different coach styles safely, courteously, and reliably along a designated route within a defined schedule.
  • Notifies dispatch of deviations, overloads, accidents, or passenger incidents.
  • Notifies dispatch of the passenger’s medical or behavioral problems and/or mechanical or electrical problems with the coach.
  • Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers.
  • Stays abreast of route and schedule changes as well as detours.
  • Administers TANK’s fare policy and ensures that fares are deposited into the farebox and distributes transfers through the farebox.
  • Distributes information to customers on routes, schedules, and other services.
  • Advises customers of rules and regulations when necessary.
  • Completes and submits written reports concerning passenger incidents and preventable and non-preventable accidents.
  • Operates onboard computers for farebox, destination signs, electronic annunciation of stops (when available), and communications with dispatch.
  • Calls out major bus stops and transfer points when the electronic annunciator system is not available.
  • Affords assistance in the boarding/alighting of passengers in wheelchairs and is responsible for adequately securing the wheelchair.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements or obtained during training.
  • Clean driving record – not more than 1 moving violation and one accident within the past five years.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stand and move about.
  • Must be able to walk up and down the bus steps multiple times throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to stoop and bend to secure wheelchairs.
  • Must be able to push and pull to assist passengers in wheelchairs.
  • Must be able to reach out and have the finger dexterity to use the MDT unit radio system.
  • Must be able to reach up and out to program farebox and change destination sign.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written material.

Licenses Required

  • Paid Training Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
  • Must meet and pass DOT medical requirements needed to maintain a CDL.

Pay

Starting pay is $24.44. Paid WEEKLY!

Schedule

Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
