About the role

Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income Division spans Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Within the Municipal Securities Division, the Syndicate / Client Financing team focuses on delivering exceptional marketing and execution services to borrowers and investors. The Analyst/Associate will market municipal new issues to clients and internal stakeholders, broaden distribution, and enhance connectivity with the universe of municipal investors. The role also involves designing and implementing data-driven approaches to support new-issue structures, pricing, and investor feedback ahead of executions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical, quantitative and operational support for bespoke financing structures
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials that reflect current market conditions and technicals
  • Work closely with Public Finance bankers and the salesforce to identify client needs and design appropriate structures
  • Develop and participate in presentations to municipal and not-for-profit borrowers and domestic and international institutional investors
  • Collaborate with internal and external desks and market makers to support trading activities across short-term and long-term products

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Developed understanding of municipal markets
  • Experience in municipal public finance, debt capital markets, or another applicable structured finance/fixed income role
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or VBA is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Curious, inquisitive, collaborative, detail-oriented, analytical, self-starting, team-oriented
  • Eager to use new technologies, data and automation to enhance traditional municipal syndicate and financing functions
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple high-priority projects

Pay

Expected base pay ranges: Analyst $110,000 – $125,000 per year; Associate $150,000 – $200,000 per year at commencement of employment. Base pay is individualized and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
