About the role
The Fixed Asset Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the corporate finance team by executing fixed asset accounting processes, ensuring compliance with capitalization policies and accounting standards, and contributing to accurate financial reporting and fixed asset record integrity.
Responsibilities
- Record and track asset additions, retirements, transfers, and sales proceeds
- Maintain accuracy of the fixed asset subledger and related general ledger accounts
- Execute restricted and complex asset transactions (e.g., transfers, master data changes)
- Monitor and review fixed asset transactions recorded outside the SAP subledger
- Perform subledger month-end and year-end close activities, including depreciation and settlement
- Prepare general ledger journal entries
- Prepare Blackline fixed asset account reconciliations
- Execute compliance checks for capitalization policies and accounting standards
- Support plant teams with asset capitalization, close activities, and record keeping
- Supply asset tags (paper and metal) to plants for use in capitalizing new assets
- Aid in physical inventory and asset verification processes
- Prepare templates for physical counts and support execution of count processes
- Record and reconcile book-to-floor adjustments resulting from physical inventories
- Perform specialized accounting tasks, including precious metal accounting
- Contribute to special projects as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
- Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability/willingness to leverage AI (i.e., Copilot) for process automation
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment while being effective interfacing across all levels of the organization
- Minimal travel required (0-10 days per year)
