About the role
The Recreation and Fitness Center (RFC) is seeking an Associate Recreation and Fitness Program Coordinator to develop, organize, and implement various programs in Personal Training, Group Exercise, Fitness and Wellness.
Responsibilities
- Develop individual personal training programs
- Teach aerobics/exercise classes as needed
- Create and plan fitness and wellness challenges and programs
- Prepare advertisements, including newsletter updates and program announcements
- Aid, maintain, and improve current RFC employee programs
- Advise participants on program and class procedures and policies, as appropriate
- Supervise facilities as necessary
- Perform general office duties: answering phone calls, handling employee questions, assisting in facility preparation for specific activities, etc.
- Assist with the general maintenance of facilities
- Maintain facility equipment as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fitness, Recreation, Sports or related field
- Some experience in fitness/wellness, recreation or sports related programs
- Certified Personal Trainer
- Certified Group Exercise Instructor
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population
Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Skills
- Yoga Certification
- Wellness programming experience
- Aquatic Instruction and/or aquatic programming experience
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certification
- Choreography based exercise class experience
- Customer service experience
