About the Role
The Fitness Center Supervisor at Marina City Club will greet and direct members and guests, answer phones for the Fitness Center, Tennis Program, and Waters Edge Spa, collect daily fees, and enforce policies and procedures set forth by the Marina City Club Fitness Center.
Responsibilities
- Train staff by initiating a formal training program, evaluate staff progress, make suggestions for improvements, and report to the Director of Fitness and Club Services.
- Maintain guest/member files and assist the Executive Office in auditing Resident and Member files when necessary.
- Supervise Fitness Center staff, trainers, and vendors.
- Enforce rules and policies with professionalism, respect, and the highest level of customer service.
- Oversee maintenance of equipment within the Fitness Center and Locker Rooms.
- Demonstrate courteous, friendly, respectful, and cooperative behaviors toward others.
- Support and participate in activities that promote customer service.
- Acknowledge members/guests immediately upon entering the work area; ensure each person checks in at the Front Desk.
- Handle member issues as they appear on the computer screen.
- Courteously, accurately, and efficiently answer the telephone for Fitness Center, Tennis Program, and Waters Edge Spa; direct inquiries to identified staff if necessary.
- Report member issues to the Fitness Director.
- Call individuals the night before to remind them of scheduled appointments (e.g., messages, equipment orientations, tennis reservations). *Specific to closing staff.
- Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of member/staff service issues, when appropriate.
- Exhibit good communication and listening skills; speak clearly and actively listen.
- Work with diverse populations under difficult and stressful situations; support the team approach.
- Utilize positive and constructive criticism to improve overall performance; maintain a positive attitude.
- Participate in operational duties of the Fitness Center as necessary, including sales promotion, facility tours, safety checks, and office supply checks.
- Maintain cleanliness of the front desk area.
- Provide members/guests with temporary lockers for their time in the facility.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.

- Accept guest and other fees; account for daily receipt totals when closing at the end of the shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED – Required.
- Previous gym and fitness experience – Preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification – Required.
- Basic First Aid and Basic Water Safety – Preferred.
Physical Demands
The employee must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, and squat.
- Frequently use hands and arms for grasping, handling, pushing, pulling, and operating equipment.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, hand tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- Maintain sufficient visual acuity and hearing to identify safety hazards and perform assigned duties safely.
Schedule
Must be able to work the following schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The role may include some weekends.
