Pay Range: $17.05–$20.70

Under the direction of the Fitness Center Manager, Fitness Center Attendants will provide excellent customer service and encourage safety in the Fitness Center.

Responsibilities

• Assist and work under the supervision of the Fitness Center Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility by cleaning equipment and training areas, vacuuming, and sweeping.
• Offer regular weight room orientation/instructional sessions to members at various times throughout the day to adequately respond to novice lifters.
• Verify membership status and ensure proper usage of the fitness area by patrons.
• Enforce facility regulations to ensure the safe use of the facility by authorized patrons.
• Provide information and answer questions about available programs.
• Report all equipment and fitness area problems to the Fitness Center Manager; notify members and staff when machines are out of working order or in need of repair.
• Enforce all rules pertaining to the fitness and exercise room and facility on a constant basis.
• Work with volunteers on a professional level.
• Assist in any emergencies or accidents and handle disputes with participants and students in a professional manner.
• Maintain a safe working environment; report all harmful problems with facilities to the proper supervisor.
• Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain the Code of Ethics policy established for the Kroc Center.
• Recognize the spiritual needs of individuals, which may require referral to the pastoral team.
• Perform other assignments/duties as directed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Certification or a degree in a related field or level of experience preferred.
• Two years or more experience working with fitness center equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have current credentials and/or certificates and/or license, if required.
• Experience with a computer-based work environment.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Light to moderate physical work; ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Regularly required to use equipment that is part of athletic and recreational programs.
• Work environment includes high levels of noise and flexibility in a constantly changing environment.
