About the role

The Fashion Department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates may teach one or more of the following courses:

Responsibilities

  • Instruction in foundational construction skills for menswear garments, ranging from dress shirts to fully lined jackets and coats. These courses focus on sewing and construction, not tailoring. The instructor will teach proper use of basic construction machinery and techniques for garment assembly, seams, finishes, and professional standards.
  • Students will learn to produce well-constructed garments using industry best practices.
  • Instruction in patternmaking techniques including development of basic slopers, pattern identification, proper tool usage, and hands-on design room methods. Students will learn basic through advanced techniques as they create garment prototypes.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and machinery is essential for linking design and production elements. Instruction emphasizes precision, technical accuracy, and professional finishing standards.

Additional Information

  • Please note all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the background check process.
  • This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments.

Compensation

$89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The working conditions for this position will be primarily in an office space. The physical requirement for this position will require constant sitting, occasional standing, occasional bending, occasional walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
