Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry
About the position
This is a temporary Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry position at the Lookingglass Hatchery in Elgin, Oregon. The anticipated duration is August 1, 2026 through November 15, 2026. These are estimated dates; length may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project's control.
Responsibilities
- Pressure wash and clean ponds
- Feed fish
- Remove mortality
- Assist with administering disease treatments
- Assist with spawning
- Operate hand and power tools
- Facility and grounds maintenance
Required qualification
- Must acquire an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Education Card through the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department within the first thirty days of appointment
Desired attributes
Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
- Experience with fish culture in a hatchery setting
- Facility maintenance experience
- Experience handling hand and power tools
- Experience with grounds maintenance
Pay
$3,515 - $4,312. The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.

Additional information
- This position will be represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and will be subject to all terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement
- Finalists are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check
- Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete the U.S. Department Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States; ODFW participates in E-Verify
