Fish and Wildlife Technician 1
About the role
As a Fish and Wildlife Technician 1 at the Bath Hatchery, you will assist fish culturists in daily fish care, including loading trucks for stocking and transfers, fish inventory, and general facility maintenance. You will also be responsible for fin clipping trout in the spring and fall.
Responsibilities
- Assist fish culturists in day-to-day fish care at the hatchery
- Load trucks for stocking and transfers
- Perform fish inventory
- Conduct general facility maintenance
- Fin clip trout in the spring and fall
Requirements
- Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography
- Valid driver’s license or ability to meet the transportation needs of the position
- Ability to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
- Must adhere to the Department’s Vehicle Policy when using a state vehicle
- Travel may be required
Additional Information
This is an hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine the actual termination date.
