About the role

The Spears School of Business Senior Manager of Fiscal Operations leads the Research and Financial Services team, overseeing critical financial functions that support the college, including purchasing, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.

This role ensures efficient and compliant financial operations while delivering high-quality service to departments across the college. As a key resource for faculty and staff, the Senior Manager provides expert guidance on purchasing policies, allowability of expenses, and foundation-related matters. The position also plays an important role in communicating updates related to purchasing processes and policies to the college.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee critical financial functions that support the college, including purchasing, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.
  • Ensure efficient and compliant financial operations while delivering high-quality service to departments across the college.
  • Provide expert guidance on purchasing policies, allowability of expenses, and foundation-related matters.
  • Communicate updates related to purchasing processes and policies to the college.
  • Support strategic initiatives, strengthen financial practices, and help ensure the college’s fiscal health and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or a related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Six years of related and progressive work experience such as bookkeeping, accounting, or purchasing
  • Good technical skills including database development and management and a financial background
  • Good communications skills; ability to interact with people in a friendly, business-like manner; strong customer service orientation; ability to interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Works with numerous individuals including faculty, staff, students, and various administrators throughout the OSU community
  • Ability to handle numerous deadlines simultaneously and be flexible to changing priorities
  • Proactive and able to handle difficult situations and supervise effectively
  • Knowledge of Quick Books and Excel preferred
  • Solid problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business or related field
  • Three years of related professional work experience in an academic setting
  • Three years supervisory experience

Pay

$72,000 - $85,500

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
