About the role

The Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking a professional, motivated, and dependable candidate for the position of Fiscal Manager. This senior leadership position will manage the office’s ongoing budget, prepare the annual budget, oversee payroll functions, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the office’s ongoing budget and prepare the annual budget.
  • Prepare mid-year revisions and transfers.
  • Supervise the accounting and budgetary functions of the office and oversee office payroll functions.
  • Ensure financial systems meet GAAP and local/state accounting requirements.
  • Design, develop, and prepare complex financial management reports for office decision-making and policy setting.
  • Administer department grant and contract management requirements.
  • Represent the office in dealing with State and Federal grant sources regarding accounting and fiscal information.
  • Recommend and implement approved policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits of accounting programs, expenditures, and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration with coursework in commercial and/or governmental accounting.
  • A minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in accounting, with at least two years in governmental accounting.
  • Two years supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in using a personal computer and appropriate software.
  • Deep understanding of fund accounting, GAAP, and public agency regulations.
  • Ability to create, monitor, and forecast budgets.
  • Experience administering grants and ensuring compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial management tools and ERP systems.
  • Ability to partner across departments to develop and allocate budgets.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of fund accounting and GAAP.
  • Expertise in budget creation, monitoring, and forecasting.
  • Proven experience in managing and administering grants.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial management tools and ERP systems.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Pay

$7,127.00 - $9,374.00 monthly.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours. Positions in this classification may be considered essential personnel during a catastrophic emergency affecting countywide operations.
