About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Integrate concepts of relationship-based care into practice consistently.
  • Assume accountability for nursing care of designated patients and demonstrate unit/area designated competencies.
  • View patients holistically, considering physical, psychosocial, emotional, age-specific, cultural, and spiritual factors.
  • Provide critical thinking by gathering and analyzing patient information and responding to patient situations with corrective or creative interventions.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise an individualized plan of care using evidence-based interventions, involving the patient and family.
  • Identify patient and family education needs, develop and implement a teaching plan, and utilize the teach-back methodology.
  • Plan for care across the continuum, including discharge readiness in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Assure quality patient outcomes in collaboration with medical staff and the healthcare team.
  • Participate in unit/organizational quality and safety initiatives.
  • Identify and prevent hospital-acquired conditions such as nosocomial infections, falls, and pressure ulcers.
  • Manage team members to provide care for a group of patients, prioritizing activities and delegating appropriately.
  • Organize and prioritize individual workload around patient and unit needs effectively.
  • Steward available resources effectively and identify education and professional growth needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, associate, and visitor information.
  • Perform job duties safely and report hazards immediately to management.
  • Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and Trinity Health's Corporate Integrity Program and Code of Ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification; ACLS required for critical care.
  • Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or multiple hospital locations.
  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • Cannot hold a concurrent position at a Trinity Health facility.
  • Ability to complete orientation and training.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current Nursing License in the state of employment.
  • Active BLS certification; credentials required per specialty area (e.g., ACLS, TNCC).
  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of eighteen (18) months to two (2) years of recent clinical experience in the relevant specialty area.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age-specific needs.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Critical thinking skills for performing principal duties and responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
