About the Role
Provides intra-operative surgical assistance as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA), collaborating with the surgical team to deliver advanced nursing care during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs pre-operative assessments, assists with intra-operative tasks such as tissue handling, exposure, suturing, and hemostasis, and evaluates post-operative patients.
- Supports surgical procedures across specialties, ensuring sterile technique and proper equipment setup.
- Participates in patient preparation, positioning, and transfer, and assists with room turnover and post-op care.
- Contributes to communication, patient education, and maintaining a safe, efficient surgical environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience or one year as an RNFA.
- Completion of an AORN-recognized RNFA program and certification.
- Valid RN license (Oregon), Nurse Operating Room Certification, and BLS certification.
Skills & Requirements
- Meets all RNFA qualifications per AORN standards, maintains licensure and continuing education.
- Preferred: CRNFA certification, ACLS certification, and at least two years RNFA practice.
