About the role
Provides intra-operative surgical assistance to the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons and healthcare professionals to perform surgical procedures and deliver advanced nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Performs pre-operative assessments
- Assists during surgery with instrument handling, tissue manipulation, hemostasis, and suturing
- Provides post-operative evaluations
- Ensures sterile technique, prepares operating rooms, assists with patient positioning, and supports anesthesia and patient transfer
- Participates in room setup, instrument management, and patient education
- Maintains safety and efficiency throughout surgical procedures
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum two years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience or one year as an RNFA
- Completion of an AORN-recognized RNFA program and certification
- Current RN license (Oregon), Nurse Operating Room Certification, and BLS certification
- Ability to function in all surgical specialties
- Demonstrate RNFA skills and communicate effectively
Additional Requirements
- Maintain CNOR and RN licensure with ongoing continuing education
- Participation in on-call rotations
- Adherence to standards set by relevant professional organizations and institutional policies
Preferred Qualifications
- CRNFA certification
- ACLS certification
