About the role

The Firewatch/Confined Space Attendant ensures job site and craftsman safety by monitoring fire hazards and confined space work, adhering to safety permits, and responding to potential dangers.

Responsibilities

• Act as Fire Watch, Hole Watch, or Bottle Watch.
• Monitor for fire hazards while work is performed by other employees.
• Maintain conditions and requirements stated on safety permits.
• Prevent flammable materials from contacting ignition sources.
• Follow emergency protocols on safety permits and alert others of dangers immediately.
• Call 911 or emergency alarm numbers as needed.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority if hazardous conditions are found.
• Maintain constant communication with supervision.
• Operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors, and hose carts as required.
• Remain on the jobsite while work is being completed.
• Identify and address safety hazards to eliminate or minimize risks.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Requirements

• Entry-level position; prior experience preferred.
• Effective communication with employees and customers.
• Ability to pass required Confined Space Entry training.
• Completion of all pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements

• Lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.
• Navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Wear PPE footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields.

Schedule

5 days a week, 10-hour shifts (5-10’s). Project length: 11 months.

Pay

Competitive wage with per diem eligibility for those 60+ miles from the site.
