About the role
Full-time Firefighter position with a pay rate of $24.03 per hour. Must be able to work a 24/48 schedule.
Responsibilities
- Respond to all hazardous material incidents and rescue situations, including confined space, aerial or high angle, water-related, vehicle entrapment, and equipment entrapment.
- Perform fire prevention and suppression activities for structures, buildings, and other assets on plant property.
- Acquire a working knowledge of fire detection, suppression, and transmission systems, including system operation, deactivation, support activities, and restoration.
- Complete fire maintenance duties such as:
- Pickup, refilling, servicing, delivery, and testing of plant fire extinguishers.
- Low-pressure hydrostatic testing.
- Refilling SCBA.
- Inspection and recharging of CO2 cartridges used in Ansul fire extinguishers.
- Fire alarm system testing.
- Hydrant testing.
- Fire department connection inspections.
- Hose reel inspections.
- Other reasonable fire maintenance-related tasks.
- Complete all fire, fire maintenance, and fire system-related reports associated with work duties.
- Provide customer service by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver's license for at least one year.
- Certification as Firefighter II (State of Indiana).
- Hazmat Awareness and Hazmat Operations certifications.
- OSHA 10 certification (assistance available if needed).
- Current EMT or EMR certification (if not certified, may enroll in the next EMR class and discuss probationary firefighter positions).
- Fire I & II, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, and a valid EMT or EMR certification.
- Clean criminal record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must pass a State-level fit test and yearly NFPA Physical.
- Be at least 18 years of age (21+ for armed roles).
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and may be required prior to employment.
