Firefighter/EMT

About the role

This position offers a $5,000 Hiring Bonus and includes an additional $12,000 in annualized salary for Firefighters/Paramedics.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency response and fire suppression services, operating approved apparatus, and delivering EMS care in accordance with protocols.
• Support rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and related activities including ventilation, salvage, and overhaul.
• Maintain equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
• Conduct fire inspections.
• Participate in ongoing training and instructional programs.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) certifications in:
• Firefighter Level I and IIEmergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Level II and IIIFirefighter Rescue and Survival/Mayday Firefighter DownHazardous Material Operations
• NIMS 100, 200, and 700
• Current certification as a Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), or Paramedic.
• 3 years experience in a career department (preferred).

Qualifications

• Must maintain their OEMS certification and be cleared to practice in the department by the EMS Physician.
• Paramedics must also maintain certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

The starting salary for certified positions is $55,985.28.
