Role Overview

This position requires competence in all functions of a Firefighter/Health Safety & Environmental Specialist (HSES), including inspecting, maintaining, and operating all fire prevention equipment at Kodak’s Rochester locations, issuing permits for hot work and confined space entries, and responding to and mitigating emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, medical emergencies, and other urgent situations. The role also demands proficiency with large fire apparatus, sprinkler and suppression systems, fire alarms, and other protection and prevention equipment. Regular interaction with employees, tenants, municipal responders, and government representatives is expected.

As an HSES Specialist, the individual will address chemical spill control and reporting to agencies, neighborhood complaints, safety inquiries, and 24/7 operational safety at Kodak facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of buildings, fire protection, and prevention equipment across all areas of fire safety.
  • Operate equipment for shutdowns related to maintenance or construction activities.
  • Maintain records of inspections and impairments for insurance companies and government authorities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in chemical spill control, clean-up, and governmental reporting at Kodak sites; respond to safety questions and neighborhood complaints; maintain knowledge of production operations.
  • Issue permits for hot work (e.g., welding, cutting, soldering) as required by insurers and government agencies for both Kodak operations and tenants at EBP.
  • Ensure all operations and equipment at Kodak facilities support a fire-safe environment.
  • Inspect confined spaces, test atmospheres, and issue permits for entry and operation in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Train employees and tenants in fire extinguisher use, fire watch procedures, and emergency evacuation.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call emergency response for fires, chemical spills, entrapments, medical emergencies, water main breaks, and other incidents; coordinate with municipal responders; provide EMS and crowd control at large Kodak Theatre events.

Skills

  • NYS 229 Professional Firefighter Certification or equivalent preferred
  • NYS Emergency Medical Technician Certification or equivalent required
  • NYS Haz-Mat Technician training
  • Fire Protection Technology Associate in Applied Science preferred

Pay

Estimated Salary: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
