About the role
The Firefighter 4 position at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector supports environmental, health, safety, and fire protection at the BWI Site and other Mission Systems sites in Maryland. Key responsibilities include conducting building fire safety inspections, supporting facility engineering, auditing, maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems, and responding to fire and hazardous materials incidents.
Responsibilities
- Conducting periodic building fire safety inspections
- Supporting facilities engineering with construction plan reviews
- Supporting in-house and sector EHSFP audits
- Inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems
- Inspecting, testing, and maintaining water-based and special suppression systems
- Supporting and responding to fire and hazardous materials incidents
- Training and supporting in-house emergency response teams and building evacuations
- Coordinating with outside emergency response teams to mitigate incidents quickly and efficiently
Requirements
- 6 years of fire service experience
- A High School Diploma and working knowledge of NIMS
- Fire Inspector II and Firefighter I certifications
- Knowledge of applicable codes and ordinances
- Ability to obtain Haz-Mat Technician certification
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Fire Science or related field preferred
- Fire Inspector III, Firefighter II, Hazmat Technician, Fire Service Instructor I certifications preferred
- 10 years experience in the Fire Prevention field preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA standards
- Ability to maintain essential PPE for emergency response and fire brigade teams
