About the role

The Fire Technician coordinates all fire and emergency activities for the MDF Boards Plant and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, communicates, and maintains a simple but effective fire safety program that meets regulated standards.
  • Coordinates all fire and emergency activities for the MDF Boards Plant.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • On-call 24/7 for emergencies, equipment failure, and alarms.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with electrical / mechanical maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Demonstrated high energy level, strong work ethic, and positive approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to write and communicate Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The ability to use power tools, measuring devices, and other hand tools.
  • The ability to read and comprehend complex data including mechanical, electrical, and piping drawings and schematics.
  • The ability to work with others in identifying and solving complex manufacturing problems.
  • The ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
  • The ability to work at heights exceeding 60 feet with the aid of man lifts and/or ladders/platforms.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • The ability to be on call 24/7 and on holidays as required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of firefighting procedures and fire inspections.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in industrial maintenance, electrical, electronics or related field OR equivalent experience.
