Fire Suppression Technician (Sign on Bonus Install & Repair)

Up to a $2,500 sign-on bonus is available for candidates with ICC, FEX1, and E4 certifications, along with pipe threading and piping installation experience. We’re seeking a skilled technician to inspect, repair, and install kitchen fire suppression systems, ensuring compliance and safety in commercial kitchens. Experience with manufacturers like Ansul, Amerex, Pyro-Chem, and Range Guard is essential.

About the role

The Fire Suppression Technician is responsible for installation, inspection, service, and repair of fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, and pre-engineered suppression systems, including associated detection and control systems, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Use tools and test equipment (e.g., power machines, groovers, cutters, band saws, lifts) to repair or replace fire extinguishers, pre-engineered systems, and detection/control system components.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NFPA codes, standards, and systems, including all types of fire extinguishers and pre-engineered suppression systems.
• Troubleshoot and identify defective components of pre-engineered suppression systems; repair or replace damaged parts.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
• Complete scheduled projects punctually and track work orders, materials, and time using Field Service Lightning.
• Adhere to SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures; participate in weekly Toolbox talks.
• Maintain company-provided vehicle in clean and operational condition.
• Attend seminars or training sessions to stay updated on technology, codes, and standards.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• State or relevant certifications (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in the Fire Life Safety Industry, specifically in Fire Suppression.
• 2+ years of professional computer skills.
• Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, and verbal).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Compliance with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific contractual agreements.

Physical & Work Environment

• Frequent bending, ascending/descending ladders, kneeling, lifting under 50 lbs, reaching, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Occasional balancing, crouching, driving, kneeling, lifting over 50 lbs, sitting, stooping, twisting, and working at heights.
• Ability to see in color, at close/far distances, peripherally, with depth perception, and adjust focus.
• Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
• Occasional indoor office work, both alone and with others.
• Consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety policies.
