Fire Sprinkler Service Technician
About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives and ascertain equipment/system issues.
- Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications, including wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pump systems.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins, modification notices, etc., to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
- Must have the ability to work alone.
Requirements
- Five years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler and Suppression systems.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Must be able to follow, read, and understand all safety requirements of the company and the customer.
Qualifications
- NICET Level II certification is a plus.
- Backflow certification is a plus.

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring lifting and moving of equipment.
