About the Role

The Fire Sprinkler Manager provides oversight of the overall management, operations, and financial performance for the assigned Sprinkler department(s). This role serves as a subject matter expert to achieve objectives related to profitability, growth, and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the fire sprinkler department, including inspections, services, and installations.
  • Manage the financial performance of the assigned department, including P&L, gross revenue, gross margin, and overhead.
  • Communicate and strategize with management regarding financial progress, growth strategies, and human capital requirements.
  • Ensure proper execution of internal workflow, fieldwork, quality assurance, and safety compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Achieve departmental objectives through operational and process improvements.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels using company procedures, bid projections, and HR for talent acquisition.
  • Oversee the use, maintenance, and repair of company assets, including equipment, tools, supplies, and fleet, in coordination with corporate departments.
  • Conduct spot checks and ride-a-longs with field technicians to review quality, compliance, customer satisfaction, and training.
  • Review and adjust technician routes for efficiency and train staff on scheduling best practices.
  • Lead monthly shop meetings, including Safety Toolbox Talks.
  • Attend and monitor install project meetings and coordination meetings as needed.
  • Oversee inspections, service jobs, and final checkout/commissioning with AHJs, owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Ensure communication between Sales and Operations for scheduling, materials, and coordination.
  • Review material preparation, orders, job staging, and tool readiness for job scheduling.
  • Manage material orders to regulate standard stock quantities with the Purchasing department.
  • Oversee accurate and timely invoicing practices with the Billing department.
  • Support business development and sales to increase market share, including quote presentations for legacy customers.
  • Promote and coordinate continuing education and certification for employees.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent, required.
  • 3 years of experience in the Fire Life Safety Industry, specifically within Fire Suppression, required.
  • 3 years of professional computer skills, preferred.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence systems, Sage 300 CRE, or similar software.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to comply with drug and alcohol policies and background screening requirements, including customer-specific contractual requirements.
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with employees and customers.

  • Occasionally required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Regularly work outside and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
  • Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, alone, or with others.
  • Must consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.
