Fire Sprinkler Designer
About the role
Fire Sprinkler Designers create unique design solutions to meet specific customer requirements for commercial building sprinkler systems in new and existing facilities. They also make recommendations for productivity improvements and cost reductions to increase customer satisfaction and job profitability.
Responsibilities
- Design and layout fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD/Revit and hydraulic calculation software per codes and standards.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and submit plans for AHJ approval.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 12, 13R, 13D, and local building codes.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and verify water supply adequacy.
- Cook up with architects, engineers, and other trades during design.
- Review and interpret construction documents and specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with the Louisiana State Fire Marshalls office for submittals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
- 5+ years of experience designing / layout of water-based systems.
- NICET Level III certificate in water-based system layouts.
- Proficient knowledge of current applicable codes including NFPA, IBC, UBC, UFC and the principles and practices of fire protection engineering.
- Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
- Proficient in engineering design software or drafting tools such as HydraCAD and Revit.
- Basic understanding of special hazard suppression systems and/or fire alarm systems is preferred.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience designing water-based system layouts.
- NICET Level IV certificate in water-based system layouts or Professional Engineering License preferred.

Pay
The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $128,520 annually.
