Fire Sprinkler Designer

About the role

Design and develop sprinkler systems to prevent or aid fires. Responsibilities include performing research and analysis, utilizing feedback from customers and experts, producing prototypes, coordinating with engineers and technicians, designing upgrades, creating testing structures, participating in installation and repair, and conducting maintenance checks to ensure system quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Follow all OSHA standards and laws.
• Attend regular development meetings.
• Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
• Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs.
• Make revisions to models as requested.
• Run simulations and stress-tests on all 3D models before prototyping.
• Keep up to date on modern advancements in material and software technologies.
• Pursue ongoing education in the field.
• Utilize large databases of material property information to select materials for modeling.
• Design plumbing drawings, as-built drawings, site water supplies design, and testing.
• Re-create new MEP and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions.
• Analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures.
• Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire emergency.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-year degree in a related field (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree or certifications (preferred).
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
• Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner.
• Patience to see complicated projects through to completion.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
• Physical abilities required: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.

Pay

$40–$50 hourly, depending on experience and certifications.
