About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled technician to join its service team. The role involves receiving service calls, diagnosing and repairing electronic fire alarm systems and other building system products.
Responsibilities
- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including describing equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system issues.
- Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
- Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Communicate with district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices like smart phones and laptop computers.
- Obtain customer signatures upon completed service call assignments.
- Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
- Train or mentor others on the service team.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
- Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Able to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Possess a valid driver's license and driving record meeting company requirements.
- Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
- Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
Preferred
- NICET Level II certification.
