Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Identify hazardous locations enroute to and from school or school bus stop.
- Identify the unsafe conditions and/or acts relating to employees.
- Investigate employee injuries to determine cause.
- Inspect all school facilities throughout the County for Fire, Safety, Casualty, and Sanitation in accordance with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).
- Perform safety inspection of event vendors and approve site plan.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
- Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing program.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
- Current certification for Fire Safety Inspector from the State of Florida, Department of Insurance, Division of State Fire Marshal, within one year.
- Verification of completion of course conducted by the State Department of Education to inspect existing school facilities in accordance with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).
- Have knowledge of roads and streets throughout the County as they pertain to student safety enroute to and from school.
- Knowledge of accident prevention techniques.
- Have knowledge of the state and federal regulations as they pertain to safety and health.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Bilingual skills.
Physical Requirements
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
- Extensive walking.
Terms of Employment
- Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
- The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
