Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned personnel on the assembly, installation, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of fire protection sprinkler systems. In addition to supervisory responsibility, this position is that of a working foreman, responsible for directly performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks.

  • Manage labor and materials to ensure the assigned tasks meet or beat budgets for each
  • Tracks hours and manpower on all tasks
  • Provides training in areas needing improvements to ensure quality, production, and safety
  • Responsible for performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks
  • Attends, as needed, all job site and office meetings related to assigned projects
  • Interprets company policy for workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Provides guidance and direction to crews in meeting budgets and project schedule
  • Ability to manage installation fitters and helpers at job site
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and architectural drawings
  • Responsible for installation of wet, cpvc, and steel systems in commercial and industrial buildings
  • Plans work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources
  • Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for the work performed
  • Demonstrate positive team work and ability to be a team leader and mentor
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
  • Completes projects in a timely manner while providing the highest standard of quality work and customer satisfaction
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Fire Sprinkler Installation field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
  • 1 to 3 years' experience as a Foreman
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA 13 and all codes
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools. While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Travel and Preferred Qualifications

May require travel (typically not overnight). Prior military experience and HS diploma or GED equivalent are preferred.
