About the Role
The Fire Life Safety Sales Executive is responsible for prospecting and developing new customers, including upselling and multi-line development of services, and negotiating pricing for inspection contracts. This role works closely with the Regional Sales Manager, Service Manager, and Service Operations Staff to ensure customer satisfaction and is a key part of the Service Department Team.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage in sales calls to new prospective customers to build the Inspection and Service business by adding new customers to the existing portfolio (e.g., door-to-door cold calling, completing call blocks, creating vertical target lists for assigned territory, and developing a sales plan to achieve assigned sales goals).
- Proactively engage in sales calls to current customers to expand service offerings (upsell).
- Identify and pursue conversion opportunities by turning construction installation customers into service customers.
- Maintain a sufficient pipeline of activity to meet sales goals, understanding that success is a byproduct of generating activity.
- Manage all sales activity within assigned Salesforce account or other sales tracking systems, recording customer and prospect information with sufficient detail and monitoring proposal timelines.
- Follow up on pending proposals in a timely manner to explain scope, answer questions, and accelerate the award of the sale or advance the opportunity through the sales cycle.
- Understand company pricing approaches for inspection sales using Excel or company-provided estimating tools, and demonstrate full knowledge of contractual terms and conditions of ITM agreements.
- Represent the organization at industry meetings (e.g., Building Owners Management Association - BOMA), customer visits, and customer entertainment, which may occur outside normal business hours.
- Stay informed of potential market opportunities through sales calls, networking, and market-related information, including changes or updates to local fire code requirements.
- Assist the Service Manager and service department with re-signing existing customers as needed.
- Advance industry technical knowledge through internal training, ride-alongs with field personnel, and reviewing technical materials.
- Work directly with the Branch Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and Service Manager to assess customer relationships and profitability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (preferred).
- 3-5 years of sales or fire protection industry experience (required).
- 2 years of experience reading electronic blueprints and using Salesforce (preferred).
- 2 years of experience operating a computer and using Microsoft Office (required).
- Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees, customers, and board members.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation (required).
- Ability to comply with the company’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements.
- Frequent travel required, up to 50%.

- Work Environment: The employee will consistently work indoors in an office or remote setting, work alone and with others, and frequently travel. Occasional use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required, as outlined by company safety policies.
