Job Description
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for testing, repairing, and inspecting fire detection systems. This role requires exceptional service to both internal and external clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis.
- Completing all services according to manufacturer instructions, relevant codes/standards, and company policies and procedures.
- Scheduling inspections with customers as needed.
- Providing documentation of inspections for company records, customer records, authorities with jurisdiction, and other entities.
- Communicating discrepancies, necessary system repairs, and other important issues to the company and the customer.
- Following up to ensure suggested repairs to systems are performed.
- Maintaining and marketing EFI services to existing and potential customers.
- Training Technician Trainees as assigned.
- Committing to work until obligations are met, which may involve overtime.
- Completing continuing education necessary to maintain current certifications and/or licenses as required for the position.
- Adhering to ALL Company Standards and Procedures, including the Controlled Substances and Alcohol Standard.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2+ years of experience in fire protection systems.
- A minimum Level II NICET certification in the desired field required (or the ability to obtain Level II within the first 18 months of employment), or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Practical knowledge of fire protection codes and standards.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- A positive and professional demeanor with the ability to handle change, resolve conflict, and solve problems as they arise with minimal direction.
- The ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.
- The ability to stand for long periods of time and perform tasks such as lifting, crouching, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
