Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and local codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm panels, devices, and circuits.
- Diagnose and resolve system deficiencies and document corrective actions.
- Complete service reports, inspection forms, and deficiency documentation accurately and timely.
- Communicate system status, repairs, and code requirements to customers.
- Cookordination with service coordinators for scheduling and follow-up work.
- Assist with training and mentoring Fire Alarm Technician I or Helpers.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, vehicles, and inventory.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response.
Education and/or Experience
- A high school diploma and 3-5+ years of fire alarm service or installation experience.
- NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Solid understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local AHJ requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, plans, and specifications.
Computer Skills
- Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment.
- Able to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications.
- Familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments.
- On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
