Fire Alarm Service Technician II

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and local codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm panels, devices, and circuits.
• Diagnose and resolve system deficiencies and document corrective actions.
• Complete service reports, inspection forms, and deficiency documentation accurately and timely.
• Communicate system status, repairs, and code requirements to customers.
• Cookordination with service coordinators for scheduling and follow-up work.
• Assist with training and mentoring Fire Alarm Technician I or Helpers.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, vehicles, and inventory.
• Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response.

Education and/or Experience

• A high school diploma and 3-5+ years of fire alarm service or installation experience.
• NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems preferred (or ability to obtain).
• Solid understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local AHJ requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, plans, and specifications.

Computer Skills

• Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment.
• Able to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications.
• Familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
• Ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments.
• On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
