Fire Alarm Technician
We are growing a life safety and security integrator headquartered in Memphis, TN, expanding operations into Nashville as its next strategic market. Nashville will be the first market where Progressive is fully supporting Fire Alarm installation and service work locally. This expansion is driven by a large, multi-year contract (5 years) that begins in July, covering fire alarm and security systems.
About the role
To support this work successfully, Progressive is building a high-caliber Fire Alarm team now, starting with a senior-level technician who can help set the standard in a brand-new market. The senior Fire Alarm Technician / Lead will be a foundational hire for Nashville operations. This individual will play a critical role in launching fire alarm install and service capabilities in the market, supporting major commercial projects, and helping to shape best practices, standards, and future team growth. This is a hands-on role with leadership influence, ideal for someone who wants more ownership, long-term stability, and the opportunity to help build something from the ground up. This role includes a company vehicle, so potential candidates must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Responsibilities
- Install and service commercial fire alarm systems
- Apply strong knowledge of NFPA 72, local fire codes, and inspection processes
- Install and service common fire alarm devices (smokes, heats, pull stations, horn/strobes, panels, relays, etc.)
- Troubleshoot systems independently and lead work in the field
- Bend and run EMT and rigid conduit for fire alarm systems
- Work in occupied commercial environments
- Help establish best practices, standards, and support future team growth in a new market
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on commercial Fire Alarm installation and/or service experience
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
Skills
- Fire alarm installation and service
- Troubleshooting and independent field leadership
- EMT and rigid conduit bending/running
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 and local fire codes
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level I–III preferred)
- Experience with major fire alarm platforms (Notifier, Simplex, Fire-Lite, Honeywell, Bosch, Edwards, etc.)
- Prior experience acting as a lead technician on projects
- Exposure to security systems (access control, CCTV)
- Experience supporting new market launches or growing teams
Pay
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
