Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with job specifications, NFPA 72, NEC, and applicable local codes.
  • Stay current with the latest editions of NFPA 72 and the NEC as they relate to fire alarm systems.
  • Review fire alarm drawings and project plans; assign duties to team members to execute projects efficiently and on schedule.
  • Supervise job site activities including material management, team coordination, and quality control throughout all phases of the project.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate fire alarm work with other subcontractors to ensure efficient use of time and materials.
  • Program, enable, and disable fire alarm systems as required during installation, testing, and service calls.
  • Respond to fire alarm system failures, inadvertent alarms, and emergency service calls; diagnose and resolve issues on-site.
  • Supervise and participate in AHJ inspections; address any noted deficiencies promptly.
  • Order materials as needed and manage on-site inventory throughout the duration of projects.
  • Complete and document service tickets accurately for all work performed outside of project scope or on service calls.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors to support project outcomes and long-term business relationships.
  • Train, mentor, and provide hands-on guidance to apprentices and helpers in fire alarm systems, codes, and best practices.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable codes at all times.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support project and company objectives.

Requirements

  • Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License, or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity.
  • NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm Systems — OR — a minimum of 3 years of hands-on fire alarm installation and service experience with a demonstrated commitment to obtaining NICET Level III certification.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of NFPA 72, the NEC, and applicable local fire alarm codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fire alarm blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Experience with programming, enabling, and disabling fire alarm systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fire alarm systems.
  • Strong team leadership skills including task delegation, communication, and mentoring.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • NICET Level III or higher (if not already held, must be pursued upon hire).
  • Experience with Fire-Lite and/or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • CPR / First Aid certification.
  • Experience coordinating with AHJs, general contractors, and other subcontractors on commercial projects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • NICET Level III or higher (if not already held, must be pursued upon hire).

Pay

$30.00 (minimum) – $50.00 (maximum) per hour, based on skills, experience, and licensure.

Schedule

Full-time position with flexible scheduling to accommodate commercial project needs.
