Fire Alarm Technician

About the role

Excel Services, Inc. is seeking a career-oriented Commercial Fire Alarm Technician to join their growing Low Voltage and Technology team. This role will be responsible for the installation, service, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm systems on commercial and industrial projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, and service commercial fire alarm systems per NFPA, manufacturer, and local code standards
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents related to fire alarm systems
• Program fire alarm control panels and devices (Honeywell, Notifier, Silent Knight, EST, Siemens, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm system components and ensure full system functionality
• Install and route conduit and cable for system infrastructure
• Cookordination with general contractors and project managers to meet project timelines and safety standards
• Complete daily and project-based documentation accurately, including inspection reports and as-built drawings

Required Experience and Skills

• 5+ years of experience installing and servicing commercial fire alarm systems
• Familiar with NFPA codes, local fire codes, and applicable industry standards
• Familiar with various fire alarm systems and control panels (Honeywell, EST, Notifier, etc.)
• Proficient in reading wiring diagrams and technical schematics
• Comfortable working at heights, on lifts, and using hand/power tools
• Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screenings

Preferred Certifications

• NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus
