Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems, networks, and devices, including:
- Smoke detectors
- Pull stations
- Mass notification devices
- Strobes
- Tamper switches
- Fire alarm control panels
- UPS batteries
- Associated wiring
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to diagnose troubles/alarms in fire alarm systems.
- Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
- Use electrician’s hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments.
- Perform fire sprinkler repair, inspection, and testing, including:
- Backflow preventers
- Fire pumps
- Sprinkler heads
- Water flow and switches
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of wet and dry fire sprinkler systems, including basic service and troubleshooting.
- Identify code issues and non-conformance issues.
- Install fire sprinkler systems as needed.
- Conduct testing as part of the preventative maintenance schedule for all devices.
- Respond to system troubles with flexible hours when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the fire alarm/suppression field.
- Formal or informal education/training ensuring ability to read and write at a level necessary for job performance.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred.
