Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our team. You will service and support existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs, and handling small projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Respond to routine and some non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance, emergency, and after-hours service calls on a timely basis.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts, and debug systems for routine problems; install projects as necessary.
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customers and Convergint in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
  • Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Advanced technical skills and experience related to fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
  • Advanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and seek solutions.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 years servicing, integrating, and programming fire alarm systems.
  • Preferred (but not required): Relevant field service experience.
