Fire Alarm & Security Service Technician

Cunningham Security, a family-owned company protecting homes and businesses across Northern New England, is hiring a full-time, on-site and field-based technician in Wakefield, MA. The role involves inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and security systems at customer locations while collaborating with a supportive service team.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections and functional testing of fire alarm and security equipment.
• Check alarm panels, smoke detectors, motion sensors, and associated devices.
• Complete preventive maintenance, including battery replacements.
• Investigate minor operating issues and flag concerns requiring additional attention.
• Record inspection results and service activity using Sedona and BuildingReports.
• Keep digital reports complete, accurate, and organized.
• Communicate professionally with customers during service visits.
• Work with internal service and support teams to coordinate next steps.
• Follow established inspection procedures carefully and consistently.

Requirements

• Previous work in fire alarms, security systems, low-voltage technology, or electrical service is preferred; mechanically inclined candidates interested in learning the industry are also welcome.
• High school diploma or GED.
• NICET or IPSI certification, or willingness to obtain industry credentials.
• Practical troubleshooting skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage field assignments independently.
• Clear communication and dependable customer service.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Pay

Starting at $30/hour, with higher pay based on experience.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; no weekend shifts.
