About the Role

The Fire Alarm & Security Operations Manager keeps abreast of technology developments, assists with customer relations, product line enhancements, and product service, while tracking budget and margin targets to meet profitability goals. This role coordinates key activities of the Alarm Service Department Team and ensures adherence to SFS’s quality program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Alarm Service Department field personnel to build a first-class service team.
  • Ensure all open work orders are completed within 30 days of creation.
  • Schedule field activities and coordinate with customers using appropriate staffing planning tools; assist when problems arise.
  • Review employee time sheets for accuracy and ensure timely submission for payroll deadlines.
  • Assist the Service Sales Representative in pricing service work according to SFS’s pricing structure.
  • Ensure Alarm Service Department personnel are responsive to customer and office requests, including 24-hour emergency call response.
  • Purchase or rent all equipment needed for each job.
  • Visit job sites as needed and maintain communication between customers and field teams.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Conduct employee reviews per company policy; coordinate disciplinary actions, suspensions, or terminations with appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure company-provided vehicles (for self and field personnel) are clean and well-maintained according to company policies.
  • Maintain tools in proper working order; coordinate new tool purchases and ensure damaged tools are labeled.
  • Ensure Alarm Technicians complete a tool inventory checklist quarterly and report lost or stolen tools.
  • Ensure all field employees are trained per company policies and maintain current licenses.
  • Understand and follow SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous Communication program, policies, and procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct required safety training; ensure field employees follow all site-specific safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent (preferred).
  • NICET or state-specific certification (preferred).
  • 5 years of Fire Life Safety Industry experience, specifically in Fire Alarm (required).
  • NICET Level 1 Fire Alarm Certification (required).
  • Fire Alarm Systems Agent (FASA) Certification (required).
  • 5 years of professional computer skills.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience within Fire Alarm.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time, locally.

Skills

  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • 1 year of experience using business intelligence systems, Sage 300 CRE, or similar (preferred).

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequently bend, ascend/descend step stools, ladders, and stairs; kneel; lift up to 50 lbs; reach above and below shoulders; stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasionally balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Regularly work outside and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
  • Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, alone, or with others.
  • Consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.
  • Must be able to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus.
