About the role

Convergint is seeking a full-time Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. The role involves installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing various systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
  • Write routine programs for systems.
  • Act as the customer's point of contact for technical support and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems.
  • Communicate potential project risks and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure fire alarm systems comply with relevant codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager on specific projects.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills related to fire alarm systems and electronic security systems.
  • Self-starter with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems.
  • Driven to achieve necessary certifications and licensing related to products, industry, and city/state.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Low voltage electrical license as required by local/state authority.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis.
  • Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Local/State Electrical License.
  • NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems.
