About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. The role involves installing, programming, testing, repairing, and servicing various systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment.
- Provide technical support and training to customers.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment.
- Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
- Write routine programs for systems.
- Act as the customer's point of contact for technical support and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems.
- Communicate potential project risks and suggest improvements.
- Ensure fire alarm systems comply with relevant codes and standards.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager on specific projects.
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
- Willingness to learn technical skills related to fire alarm systems and electronic security systems.
- Self-starter with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems.
- Driven to achieve necessary certifications and licensing related to products, industry, and city/state.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record.
- NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Low voltage electrical license as required by local/state authority.
- Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis.
- Minimal overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications
- High School/GED or equivalent experience.
- Local/State Electrical License.
- NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems.
