About the Role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, program, start-up, check-out, certify, and train customers on assigned projects, ranging from small to large and varying in complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, repair, and service various systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers, ensuring maximum satisfaction.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to repair equipment using knowledge of electronics and standard test instruments.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
  • Write programs for systems and consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems.
  • Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and product improvements.
  • Manage technical aspects of multiple projects, including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, and close-out documentation.
  • Identify project risks, communicate with appropriate parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Managers to coordinate projects and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and supervise workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Solid technical skills and experience with fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
  • Strong programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, including experience with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings, with solid math skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites regularly, with minimal overnight travel.
  • Security experience with basic programming.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Must have security experience with basic programming.
  • Preferred Experience: Relevant field service (not required).
  • Certifications: Product-specific certifications, industry-specific certifications, and/or licenses (e.g., Software House, Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, Milestone, ONSSI, AXIS).
