Fire Alarm Inspector

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems and components according to NFPA standards, local codes, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Test alarm panels, initiating devices, detectors, pull stations, and notification appliances.
  • Verify proper operation of audible and strobe devices and notification circuits.
  • Identify and document system deficiencies, repair needs, and recommendations.
  • Communicate findings with customers and service teams.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Complete accurate inspection reports using company reporting systems.
  • Maintain tools, testing equipment, and company vehicle in safe, working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • 2–4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NICET Level II or III preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and inspection practices.
  • Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The Job

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Able to read diagrams, labels, and test results and distinguish color-coded wiring.
  • Able to hear alarm signals and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
  • Comfortable working around flashing and strobe lights during testing.
