Fire Alarm Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking a Fire Alarm and Special Hazards Estimator at Shambaugh & Son. This position supports the estimating and project management of complex fire protection projects, including industrial, commercial, and specialized systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with clients through marketing and strategic initiatives.
• Develop detailed and accurate scope of work and preliminary bid drawings based on customer information.
• Perform detailed and informative site surveys with pictures and accurate dimensions.
• Develop high-level design calculations of systems estimated.
• Project take-offs in estimating programs.
• Some project management responsibilities (track project progress, change order maintenance, etc.).
• Review all engineered drawings for accuracy with the project estimate.
• Develop detailed scope letters custom to each individual project bid.
• Perform contract review and checklist for each project sold.
• Continuously find new and creative ways of marketing the key customer base.
• Monitor all project job cost reports and ensure they are on track for any visible issues.
• Follow up with customers throughout the duration of each project.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Preferred degree in technical or business discipline, or equivalent work experience in Fire Protection industry.
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in Fire Protection industry preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in project estimating preferred.
• Good computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word).
• High electrical interest.
• AutoCad experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Excellent communicator in both written and verbal forms.
• Self-motivated individual with great organizational skills.
