Support sales and operations in all technical aspects of fire alarm systems, requiring constant communication with customers, sales, and operations teams. Strong customer service, public speaking, and writing skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build projects to meet code and/or customer requirements.
- Perform take-offs of engineered projects.
- Conduct technical reviews of engineered projects for compliance with code or customer requirements and inform sales of any deviations.
- Prepare equipment cost estimates and quotes using quoting tools.
- Collaborate with the sales department to clarify requirements and workload distribution.
- Lead responsibility for ascertaining compliance with local code interpretations, regulations, or amendments.
- Provide input to sales and operations on technical and business considerations for projects, including estimating, timing, resource needs, technical solutions, and code compliance.
- Support field personnel, engineering, and sales with design, installation, commissioning, and code-related questions.
- Assist AutoCAD drawers in preparing drawings as needed.
- Interpret project documents, estimates, and other information to select appropriate equipment in the most economical and functional manner.
- Assess whether customer expectations align with Bosch Building Technologies' capabilities and contractual scope, providing feedback internally and externally.
- Recommend technical solutions to sales and operations teams.
- Assist the sales team during the estimating phase and demonstrate life safety systems to customers.
- Identify change order opportunities and coordinate with sales to document, pursue, and book them.
- Provide support to resolve building operating issues beyond controls or special systems operation.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of take-offs, labor, bill of materials, and estimated productivity.
- Provide leadership and input for accurate estimation, design, installation, start-up, and commissioning of security and life safety systems.
- Communicate with external organizations such as consulting engineers, building owners, and contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key partners and manufacturers.
- Maintain pricing updates for products in the database in cooperation with sales.
- Maintain membership in applicable associations and supply data for proper configuration management.
- Assist sales with site surveys of existing properties for system upgrades or modifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of field and system design experience.
- 2+ years of fire alarm systems experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email applications, Blue Beam/Adobe, and database structures.
- Ability to pass a background check and maintain a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of sprinkler systems experience.
Physical Demands
- Effectively communicate in English (see, hear, speak, and write clearly).
- Manual dexterity for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk in office environments and construction sites.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).
Working Conditions
- Clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated office environment with low to moderate noise levels.
- Required to be on-site with customers or contractors, with or without colleagues, to manage expectations and deliverables. Sites range from general office environments to new construction.
- Driving to customer sites is required.
Schedule
This position generally works Monday through Friday.
Travel Requirements
Travel to job sites within Arizona is required.
