About the role
The Onsite Finishing Manager will manage the Finishing area to meet daily production needs and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the production performance on all shifts; all finishing supervisory personnel report to this position.
- Maintain all State Requirements regarding Environmental Issues.
- Ensure shop floor performance measurements meet company expectations (Output levels, Scrap levels, Expense budgets, Quality levels - PPM perform internal and external, Gross margin performance, Labor budgets).
- Implement, control, and maintain required shop floor disciplines to assure operational control.
- Maintain data integrity for all transactions performed by shop floor personnel.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through the cycle counting process.
- Oversee job duties and performance levels for the following areas: Nickel, Paint, Zinc, Finishing Supervisor.
- Execute and initiate training programs for shop floor personnel, including recommendations for program changes.
- Serve as a member of the scrap team, responsible for control and reduction of plant scrap to meet company objectives.
- Participate in maintenance projects and priorities through weekly maintenance project reviews.
- Interact daily with maintenance to ensure machine and plant maintenance meets performance expectations.
- Understand, educate, and control MRP Interactive modules: Shop Floor Control, Focused Factory.
- Execute all shop floor programs to enhance performance.
- Sign off on all engineering upgrades or equipment introduced to the shop floor; ensure upgrades are utilized and maintained to expected levels.
- Work closely with Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Engineering Manager to ensure proper installation and maintenance of equipment.
- Document and report any startup issues to Engineering or Maintenance for Corrective Action.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Finishing Areas, including the plating line, zinc line, paint line, and the exterior of the building.
- Execute production schedules initiated by the Materials Department and react to schedule changes throughout the week.
- Ensure all customer ship schedules are met on time with expected quality levels.
- Adhere to and support the AAP quality policy and perform job duties in accordance with established quality procedures.
- Transfer accountability of direct reports to support and adhere to the quality policy and established quality procedures.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing in a manufacturing finishing environment.
- A technical degree or certification in the Finishing area is a plus (e.g., certification in Production and Inventory Control).
- Able to travel to other divisions when required.
- Detailed and hands-on oriented.
- English fluency.
