About the Role
Finishers will perform a variety of tasks related to the final stages of heavy civil construction projects in Louisiana, ensuring high-quality surface finishes on concrete and other materials.
Responsibilities
- Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete surfaces using hand and power tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds.
- Apply curing compounds and protective sealers to finished concrete.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate finishes and grades.
- Cut, shape, and smooth concrete, using roughing and finishing tools.
- Monitor concrete for proper curing and address any imperfections.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of forms and other construction equipment.
- Operate small construction equipment as needed (e.g., vibrators, power buggies).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other crew members and supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned on various heavy civil construction sites.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Finisher or Concrete Finisher in heavy civil construction.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools for concrete finishing.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of concrete properties and curing processes.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Adherence to all safety regulations and practices.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites across Louisiana.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
