Compensation: $20/hour – $24+/hour (dependent on experience). Incentives include a 5% shift differential, overtime opportunities, and a quarterly incentive bonus.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Perform rotofiling, grit blasting, hand and bench grinding to remove casting defects and smooth/finish welded castings under close supervision.
- Follow process control and quality procedures for finishing operations; read and adhere to shop traveler instructions.
- Operate manual and automatic grit blast equipment, handheld pneumatic tools, and bench grinding tools.
- Select appropriate tools for basic and routine surface finishing, scraping, deburring, and defect removal.
- Perform "dig out" on selected castings per NDT Department instructions.
- Select and mount proper tools in burr guns; determine metal removal for belt cleanup.
- Manipulate tools or parts to remove unwanted metal without damaging surfaces, cracking, or over-stressing parts.
- Prepare casting defect areas for weld repair by grinding proper weld repair cavities.
- Perform simple dimensional inspections as needed.
- Detect and report defective parts or unusual conditions to lead or supervisor.
- Meet daily throughput goals within assigned training and ability.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE as outlined in the Hazard Assessment Form.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Requirements
- Use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions within standard procedures.
- Demonstrate eye-hand coordination, visual acuity, and manual dexterity to operate grinding tools.
- Sustain continuous mental or visual attention requiring alertness.
- Lift up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
- Wear PPE for finishing and grinding operations.
- Apply shop math, including decimals, fractions, formulas, specifications, charts, tables, and adjustable measuring instruments.
- Minimum of 6 months of manufacturing experience.
