About the Role

The Finish Specialist performs finishing preparation, application, and polishing of parts, as well as minor repair and touch-up work in a safe, clean, and organized work area according to customer expectations and Duncan Aviation approved procedures. This position also assists with training less experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

  • With minimal supervision, prepares cabinet surfaces and substrates for paint or finish, and miscellaneous plastic, metal, and leather parts for paint or dye to customer satisfaction and Duncan Aviation approved procedures using appropriate equipment.
  • With minimal supervision, applies stains, dyes, paints, or finishes to prepared parts. Mixes paint and stains as needed.
  • With minimal supervision, performs basic detail work, polish, and clean-up on finished items.
  • With minimal supervision, performs structural and decorative repairs as required.
  • With minimal supervision, researches, prepares, and signs off various documents for record-keeping purposes as required by Duncan Aviation approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations (e.g., turnovers, removal sheets, flammability testing, W.O. Sheets, personal training log, FAA 8110-3 & FAA 337's, and other work order-related documents supporting the review of squawks and expected hours).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified.
  • Regularly scheduled attendance required.
  • Routinely lifts 50 lbs., occasionally 100 lbs.
  • Reads small print; identifies small finish imperfections.
  • Hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies.
  • Repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration.
  • Tolerates working in confined spaces.
  • Tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance.
  • Tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and sitting.
  • Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

Qualifications

  • Finish Specialist I: High School graduate or equivalent required. Minimum one year of related experience required.
  • Finish Specialist II: High School graduate or equivalent required. Minimum two years of related experience required. Minimum two years of aviation finish experience preferred.
  • Finish Specialist III: High School graduate or equivalent required. Minimum four years of related experience required. Minimum three years of aviation finish experience preferred.
